It has been several years since I've taken trigonometry, so I purchased this book as a way to practice my skills before resuming classes that may need those skills. The book has fully solved problems, so it is easy to work through a problem on your own and check the answer at the end, or follow along with the problem in the book if you get stuck on a step. This would be a good practice book for a student who wants more practice in addition to the problems that are in their normal textbook, or for someone who is not enrolled in a trig class and wants to review some problem solving skills.This book should not be intended to replace a trigonometry textbook or course, but is a good supplement to those.
Outline is the operative word in the title. This is not a text book that painstakingly teaches Trigonometry. It best used as a supplement to a trig text book or course in trigonometry. The book does provide important definitions and some descriptions of terms and formula, and this is very helpful. However, the strength of the book is the problems. That is what this Outline is all about. Once you have a basic understanding of trig principle, the examples and problems build your confidence in finding solutions and recognizing when a specific concept should be used. Good book, but not by itself unless you are reviewing trig from a previous experience. It had been 40 years since I took a course in trig, so the book was a bit concise.
Very helpful book for those of you that have bad teachers and you need to teach yourself Trig to get through class. Because of this book I turned a 1.7 gpa to a 3.8!!
I took Trig many, many years ago so I was looking for a book to review the information before I take PreCalculus. This book is definitely an outline with very minimal instruction. It looks to be a good book to practice problems since it has a lot of solved problems but for someone who needs thorough instructions on how to work the problems, this isn't it. That is the case with me. I will have to order another book in addition to this one.
Order the for my friend's granddaughter, she is 16 and in High School. She is mastering math and Schaum's is not only a book about the subject - but a book of solutions. She studied Trig over her spring break. Five Stars for Schaum.

I grew up with Schaum series. They are life savers. Now that my daughter is heading to UCLA, and must take the Math 31 series (Calculus), I have purchased a few Schaum Series books for her to use to review over the summer.
