This is the easiest to follow manuel I have ever used! Set up like a class room text book with help everywhere! Because of the clarity I just ordered the "More Windows 7 for Seniors" by the Visual Steps company.
I bought this book for my mother last winter when I gave her an iPad. At the time, she told me it was helpful, but then last month (after the tech savvy grandchild had left for college) she was struggling to figure out how to put a new app on her iPad and when I asked if she'd tried looking in the book she said it was too hard to understand. I got out the book and I was able to use it to figure out what to do, so I like this book! My mom's in her 80s and maybe it was her cataracts that made this book too hard for her.
Okay-- bought my iPAD as an e-reader, for email, etc.Was not my first APPLE productThought I could figure out everything I needed without instructionsWRONG!People kept telling me how much they enjoyed their music and photos on their iPAD and I'm thinking WHAT?? How did you do that? So I decided to get this book and now i am a VERY happy camper-- the book gives visual instructions-- step by -step and you really can't screw it up. This book (like the iPhone for Seniors) is a true keeper.My only complaint is that it was printed before IO7 was released.
Excellent and helpful illustrations, large typeface and plenty of white space make each page easy to read. However, I don't retain information as well as I used to (even after the end of chapter skill quizzes) so I found myself constantly skipping around through the book to complete a task. I guess the sequence in which the the chapters are presented isn't very intuitive to me. But this is a minor criticism. Not immediately locating what I need leaves me more annoyed than frustrated. But please don't misunderstand: considering other instruction manuals I've paid for and used, mere annoyance is a desirable outcome. Bottom line, I continue to find the book useful and think it's well worth the money.
I bought this book for my 92-yr.old sister who just got an ipad and who is losing her vision. She is finding it very helpful, even though she has to use a magnifying glass in some places (her vision is extremely poor). She tells me that she has learned a number of routines with help from the book. I can't be specific, since I haven't used it myself, but the fact that her husband has found the book useful substantiates her opinion.
Still don't understand it and I am not stupid. I think it is a hard subject to simplify.
Nothing but good things to say, except the smell of the book. I really hope it disapates sometime soon! This book makes using the iPad so much easier for my parent, shhhh, I have even peeked at it, ok, more than once!If you, or someone you know has an iPad, this book is really a nice thing to have!
This is a great book for not only Seniors, it is good for anyone with an iPad. Everything from pictures to writing is very clear. I think any iPad owner should own it. We all can use a reference now and then, no matter how educated we become.I bought a copy for a friend that shares my feelings on the book.
